Batik is my art form..an ever changing, ever challenging type of painting expression.  Also called wax-resist painting, because I do actually paint with hot liquid wax. Starting with a lovely  blank,white,piece of natural fabric; whatever I can imagine; I can recreate on my cloth. First, I have to picture what it is i will paint, because  the areas of color need to be established in my head before I can proceed.  While the fabric is white; I will paint the hot wax only on the areas that I want to be white in my painting. The wax holds the whiteness underneath; then I can dye the fabric my first lightest color, without losing the white!  After the dye completely dries; I can proceed with waxing only where I want the new color to be....& so on, with each additional color, until my painting is complete & pleasing to me!
